With over 35 years of distinguished experience in senior management positions and corporate governance, Mr. William (Bill) Lay brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to his role as Non-Executive Chairman of RP Energy Fund. Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Lay has demonstrated exceptional corporate leadership and governance skills, coupled with a strategic mindset and a keen ability to foster relationships and drive change. His key competencies include strategic management, mediation, corporate restructuring, and the development of strategic partnerships.

Mr Lay’s extensive work experience encompasses a diverse range of roles and responsibilities across various sectors, showcasing his versatility and adaptability as a leader. As Chairman of the Water Sector Trust Fund and Advisor to the Taita Taveta Governor-Kenya, he has played instrumental roles in community development and governance structures. Additionally, his founding directorship of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and leadership in the Taita Taveta Investment Forum are reminiscent of his commitment to driving economic growth and fostering entrepreneurship.

Prior to his current roles, Mr. Lay held prominent positions such as Chairman and CEO of General Motors East Africa (now ISUZU East Africa), Group CEO of CMC Group Motors, and Chairman of East Africa Portland Cement, where he successfully led corporate restructuring initiatives and strategic partnerships. His board memberships in various organizations, including the American Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement Kenya.

Mr. Lay holds a Bachelor of Arts from Alma College, Michigan, USA, and executive development at GM Executive Development in Detroit, Michigan, USA.
